The first results of the collaboration are already available on the new e3 smart phone from Chinese telecoms equipment maker ZTE Corp, which is built on top of Trolltech’s Qtopia Linux platform and the Opera browser.

The two companies, which are both based in Oslo, Norway, said they will work together to further integrate Trolltech’s Qtopia application environment with the Opera browser, as well as joint marketing and promotion activities.

By combining their strengths and focusing on the mobile communications and home entertainment markets, Trolltech and Opera also hope to attract more consumers and device manufacturers to the potential for Linux in these markets.
