Olivetti has its work cut out turning its Triumph-Adler acquisition around: according to one of the trades union representatives on the company’s supervisory board, losses this year are likely to turn out at about $100m against $35m last year, typewriter sales were down 10% over 1985 – but still accounted for 60% of the total, compared with 46% back in 1985.
