Tripwire has unveiled the new vWire virtualisation management system (VMS), which the company claims to be the first VMS to integrate change and configuration awareness into Virtual Infrastructure (VI) management.

The company said that the new offering would solve the business needs of virtualisation administrators and monitor the state of virtual systems and correlate data with critical events to provide context and insight into potential issues and then act to prevent and resolve problems that cause downtime.

The company further said that the new offering would reduce the time that virtual infrastructure managers spend troubleshooting system failures. It would also help IT organisations to optimise their virtual infrastructures, downtime and reliability, while reducing operating costs through automated monitoring and problem detection.

The new offering was designed based on direct input from the virtualisation community. Once installed with sufficient licenses and credentials, it starts recording and analysing the status of the entire virtual infrastructure.

Shekar Ayyar, vice president of infrastructure alliances at VMware, said: Tripwire is working with VMware to provide customers with solutions and tools that offer a view of their virtualised environments while improving operational compliance of these systems. Tripwire’s new vWire extends the management capabilities of VMware solutions with capabilities targeted at providing visibility and helping troubleshoot problems.
