Trident Microsystems Inc, Mountain View has announced that it has two new high-performance, three-in-one integrated graphical user interface accelerators. The parts, the dynamic RAM-based 32-bit TGUI9440AGi and 64-bit TGUI9660XGi accelerators include on-chip 108MHz and 135MHz pixel clock and RAMDACs respectively. Both devices support high-quality live-video playback at no extra cost using their on-chip 16-bit VESA Advanced Feature Connector Digital-to-Analogue Converters, which enables the display of both full-screen and windowed, full-motion video, in non-interlaced 1,024 by 768 VGA, with as little as 512Kb of graphics memory. Trident has improved the display quality of the accelerators. The TGUI9440AGi includes on-chip 108MHz pixel clock and RAMDAC and is capable of displaying a flicker-free 1,280 by 1,024 60Hz non-interlaced signals. The TGUI9660XGi includes the same functionality at a higher 135MHz rate giving it a flicker-free 1,280 by 1,024 75Hz non-interlaced display. Both chips include clean-sheet-of-paper graphical user interface accelerator designs. The graphical user interface engines include 256-rastor drawing operations, line-draw, trapezoid fill (64-bit only) and several very-deep first in-first out buffers for full memory bandwidth utilisation. Both graphical interface accelerators offer on-chip signature-analysis capability for high-volume testing environments, glueless VL and Peripheral Component Interconnect bus connections, and adhere to VESA DDC monitor standards; the TGUI9660XGi supports big-endian pixel modes for AIX and Solaris operating systems and the Samsung Electronics Co-Micron Technology Inc WindowRAM. The TGUI9440AGi is sampling now and costs $17 in quantities of 10,000 per month. The TGUI9660XGi will sample this month at $27 when you order 10,000 a month.
