Trend Datalink Ltd, the data communications branch of Trend Group Plc, High Wycombe, has a bottom-end addition to its protocol testing family, called the Interview 6600. The company already acts as sole UK distributor for the Virginia-based Atlantic Research Corp’s Interview top-end 7500 Protocol Development System and 7000 Protocol Analyser – a point which explains why emphasis is being placed upon the unique upgrading capacity of the Interview 6600. The protocol analyser, which embraces SNA, X25 and Bisync networking environments, can be used for stand.cw 8 ard data traffic monitoring and troubleshooting at speeds up to 72Kbps and, via an inbuilt test library, can provide rapid access to a set of ready-to-run program, designed to eliminate standard problems within a network. The test library also contains a number of test set-ups which can be modified by users to create programs for specific problems within individual networks. Other features include portability, easy-to-read plasma display with special colour highlights for problem identification, colour video output and, for analysis purposes, a bar chart facility which provides users with up to 16 graph values. The 6600 protocol tester will be sold at UKP10,000: some idea of upgrading costs may be gleaned from the fact that the top-end 7500 development system currently costs UKP20,000.
