OfficeScan 8.0 will come with an optional component that sends domains out to an online service to check whether they host web-based malware, before allowing the user to visit a particular URL.
It’s the kind of service, designed to mitigate the increasing risk of web-borne malware, which is often deployed at the corporate LAN gateway, but Trend particularly has roaming and remote users in mind.
The company also announced that OfficeScan now has a modular architecture, that will enable administrators to turn on new functionality on all their desktops without having to reinstall the software on each and every one.
Available today, US pricing starts at $26.06 per user for over 1000 seats, and UK pricing starts at 15.87 pounds per user.
