TRANSIMAGE LAUNCHES OPTICAL HAND-HELD SCANNER IN THE UK

TransImage Corp of Sunnyvale California, yesterday launched in the UK an optical hand-held scanner, which it claims can read hundreds of different type-faces directly into personal computers; it reads fully formed characters from fixed pitch, proportionally spaced, typeset, typewriter, near letter-quality and laser documents, and operates at up to 40chps (480 words per minute); designed for use with MS-DOS micros the TransImage 1000 is UKP2,495 and will be marketed by Technitron Data Ltd of Slough.
