4,561 miles, or 2 percent, of Britain’s roads have no mobile phone coverage from any network provider.
The research from the RAC also revealed that a further 28,975 miles of road have only partial 2G coverage, while 14,554 miles of road or 6 percent have a complete absence of 3G coverage.
In addition, 56 percent of miles of road had no 4G coverage.
The un-served stretches of road can be found in 49 separate local authority areas, with the local authority area of Highland having 452 miles of road with no coverage.
Powys, Argyll & Brute and Cumbria were also poorly served with 437 miles, 293 miles, 252 miles respectively, while Devon had 243 miles with no signal coverage.
