Trace Computers Plc blames the fall in turnover for the six months to November 30 (figures, see page five), on a planned reduction in the scale of its computer supplies business, where turnover fell by nearly UKP1m; the company managed to shave UKP122,000 from its administrative and operating costs; the original businesses of insurance broking systems, property management systems and bespoke software development have continued to prosper, the company says, and the Proteus distribution systems business, consolidated on its return to profits last year; Trace Financial also made a small profit and there was interest in the BlueChip stockbroking product; the group is still investing about UKP2m a year in research and development – with some contribution from its customers; the Pink networking technology company had a disappointing half year, turning in a small loss after having made a profit last year.
