The Japan Electronic Industry Development Association reports that total Japanese shipments – domestic and export – of personal computers in the October to December quarter were up 19% at $1,000m, representing 634,000 units, up 10%; exports totalled $368.7m and showed an increase despite the strong Yen, but the figures for the full year to March are expected to be about static at 2.5m units, mainly because home computer sales in Japan were sluggish last spring and summer.
