Toshiba Corp has decided to run Sun Microsystems Inc’s X-View as the user interface for software development both its laptops and its AS3000 versions of the Sun-3 workstations: a Japanese version of X-View will be developed with target completion date of the autumn of 1990; Sun had planned to confer with the other resellers of Suns – Fujitsu ltd and Fuji Xerox as well as Toshiba, before deciding on the Japanese specifications, but it appears that Toshiba has stolen a march on the others by starting work on its own Japanese version; already there are several different Japanese versions of Unix itself running on different vendors’ Suns.
