TOSHIBA TO CONTRACT PHONE MANUFACTURE TO TAIWAN’S KING

Toshiba Corp is to contract manufacture of telephones to the Taiwanese company, King Tel: the phones in question are the compact FF50MK which includes an answering machine function using four 256Kb memory chips, and the FF20AK multi-function telephone which came out last month; the phones will be designed and specified in Japan, at Toshiba’s Hino plant, and will be offered for around $230 less than comparable domestic models, the FF50MK coming in at half price, only about $220.
