Interested businesses can buy into the package for about 400 pounds ($656.80) per site, a figure Toshiba described as significantly more cost effective than competitive hotspot products.

Consumers are also expected to benefit from the package. Toshiba said it expects site owners to offer WLAN access for about 5 pounds ($8.21) for 24 hours. This compares with prices from established hotspot service providers that charge up to 5 pounds ($8.21) per hour.

The package, which is available in either Toshiba-branded or white label form, is being offered through the Computer Systems Division of the Tokyo, Japan-based company’s UK subsidiary, Toshiba Information Systems (UK) Ltd.
