Toshiba Corp’s Toshiba Telecoms division has launched an enhanced version of its EKT PC Card, designed to give personal computers a virtual on-screen telephone for use with the Toshiba Strata DK family of telephone systems. It is based on Windows Keyphone software, and enables the connection between a single personal computer and a telephone, with a telephone handset inserted into a port on the board, a contact database, and when used with an ISDN line, Caller Line Identity so the software can recognize incoming calls and show caller details – calls can be answered without using the keyboard by lifting the receiver.
