Toshiba Corp’s Sunnyvale-based Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc is to acquire Vertex Semiconductor Corp: the company, formerly Integrated CMOS Systems is a San Jose designer and manufacturer of ASIC chip sets for high gate count, performance-driven electronic systems; it approached Toshiba, which is paying about $20m for the firm.
