Toshiba Corp’s Toshiba America Information Systems Inc has been falling back a little in its portables stronghold, but the company hopes to win back lost ground with its new T6600C series of advanced portable multimedia computers: the line includes three compatible models – a the basic T6600C system with 66MHz 80486 DX2 processor, 8Mb RAM, graphics accelerator, a 510Mb hard disk, integrated audio capability with two speakers, input-output ports and expansion slots, a SCSI port, MS-DOS 6.0, Windows 3.1, Asymetrix Compel and MediaBlitz!; the T6600C/CD adds a CD-ROM to the basic system and the T6600C/CDV includes both the CD-ROM and a professional-standard video board; they ship next month at $7,700, $8,300 and $9,500 respectively.
