TOSHIBA PLANS MASS PRODUCTION OF 0.175 MICRON CHIPS

Japanese electronics company, Toshiba Corp., has plans to start mass production of its 64Mb dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips with a die size 35mm squared using 0.175-micron process by the end of 1999 and then switch to a 0.15-micron processes by 2000, according to Nikkei Micro Devices. The production will be at the Yokkaichi plant in the Mie prefecture.
