TOSHIBA MARKETS NEW PABX, THE TX-8400

Toshiba Corp has begun marketing a new PABX, the TX-8400, which is based on AT&T Co’s System 75 XE: a medium-sized digital switch, it has capacity for 100 to 600 lines and has been modified to calculate Japanese dial-up charges, and a standard configuration for 400 extensions costs about $224,000 in Japan; at the low end, Toshiba sells its own Perception series, while at the high end it is selling the BX-3000 series which was developed jointly with Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp.
