TOSHIBA LOOKS TO DOUBLE OUTSOURCING REVENUE

By CBR Staff Writer

Toshiba Corp is set to beef up its outsourcing business by integrating IT services activities across all its corporate divisions beginning October 1, according to The Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The idea is to double annual corporate services revenues to 280bn yen ($2.09bn) by fiscal 2001. The outsourcing business includes typical consultancy and systems integration and maintenance work. Toshiba says it will also consider using the existing service networks of its maintenance and sales subsidiaries to attract more outsourcing customers. The news comes at a time when Fujitsu Ltd and NEC Corp are also said to be focusing more on service and software businesses.
