Toshiba Corp has launched in the US and Europe its latest notebook computer, which it claims is a full-function, no compromise machine weighing 5 lbs 8 oz in a 1.6 by 11.7 by 8.3 carbon fibre reinforced plastic package: it has a full-size 82 key keyboard, rear hinged display for 9.5 diagonal black-and white VGA-compatible screen, built-in PS/2-style mouse port, credit card size modem with 2,400 data rate and MNP 5 and optional desk station IV to turn it into a desktop for the office; the T2200SX uses 20MHz 80386SX with 2Mb to 10Mb memory, 0.59 thick 1.44Mb 3.5 floppy and 60Mb or 40Mb hard disk at $4,800 or $4,500; the UK price with the 40Mb disk drive is UKP3,800.
