TOSHIBA LAUNCHES DUAL SPEED ETHERNET CONTROLLER

Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc has launched a dual speed 100/10 Mbps Ethernet controller which integrates a PCIbus interface, a direct memory access (DMA) engine and a media access control layer. The TC35815F single-chip controller can be used on PC motherboards and network interface cards, as well as embedded applications such as printers, LAN-ATM bridges, routers and hubs. The controller is licensed to Toshiba for manufacture and sale by Mountain View-based Sierra Research and Technology, Inc. Samples of the TC35815F will be available in second quarter 1997, with volume production in the third quarter 1997. The device is priced at $15 each in 1,000-piece quantities. Evaluation cards are also available.
