Toshiba Corp has introduced a new notebook computer weighing 29.6 ounces yet incorporating a 6.1 thin-film transistor color display. The new Libretto 20 comes pre- loaded with Windows95 and is designed as a wallet-sized personal computer that can handle all business needs. Other features include 0.33 super-slim hard disk drive with 270Mb capacity, a Type II PC Card slot for a modem or SCSI. Business applications pre-installed include Microsoft Works for Windows and Lotus Organizer R2.1J, a guide to all Japanese rail routes and timetable and Internet Explorer. It also supports infra-red data transmission by both InfraRed Data Association and ASK standards; ASK is a method of data transmission developed by Sharp Corp and used in Japan’s most popular electronic organiser, the Zaurus. The Libretto 20 was designed for the Japanese market.
