Toshiba Corp has a new model out in its Dynabook notebook personal computer line: the new version is battery-powered with two floppy drives, runs for five years between charges, weighs 6 lbs 10 oz and costs $1,430; the screen differs from those on the existing models in that it is sidelit instead of backlit, which is said to improve illumination and extend the life 10-fold; memory cards in capacities from 1Mb to 8Mb are offered; there are now four models of the Dynabook, including – how many times has IBM come out with new models of its laptop since it launched in a year ago? – and Toshiba is hoping for sales of 210,000 units this fiscal year.
