Toshiba Corp has a new lightweight XT-compatible lap-top, the Dynabook J-3100S (could be trouble over that name), with a built in 3.5 floppy drive, measuring 12.2 by 9.8 deep by 1.7 and weighing 6 lbs: costing $1,500 it uses an 80C86 processor, liquid crystal display, standard memory of 1.5Mb which can be increased to 3.5Mb with memory cards, and a battery pack that runs up to 150 minutes after a four-hour charge; the new machine is designed to compete with NEC Corp’s Ultralite which is claimed to be selling well in the US; the Dynabook is software-compatible with the T/J3100 family of Toshiba lap-top boxes.
