TOSHIBA FORECASTS PC SALES WILL HIT 870,000

World laptop king Toshiba Corp is forecasting that its worldwide personal computer sales will hit 870,000 in the current financial year, compared with 600,000 last year, with sales in Japan estimated at 290,000 and overseas sales at 580,000, up from 200,000 and 400,000 respectively last year: of these sales it forecasts that notebook-sized personal computer sales will constitute 70% of domestic sales and 50% of overseas sales; according to Reuter, Toshiba also says it produces 35,000 personal computers a month in Japan, 15,000 at Toshiba America Information Systems Inc in California and 5,000 at Toshiba Europa GmbH, West Germany.
