Apart from providing support for Toshiba’s hard disk drive (HDD) development in Japan, more than 50 engineers will join Toshiba America Information Systems as part of the deal to provide support to PC and consumer electronic companies in the US.
Toshiba claims to lead the 1.8 inch HDD market with more than 14 million shipped since the launch in 2000. At the beginning of this year it began shipping 2 GB 0.85 inch drives and has 4GB drives of the same size due by the middle of the year.
