TOSHIBA AND WINBOND IN 64M-BIT COOPERATION PACT

By CBR Staff Writer

Toshiba Corp is to provide production technology for 64M-bit dynamic random access memory chips to Taiwan’s Winbond Electronics Corp and will receive 64Ms back from the company. The two companies already have a production agreement for 16M dyamics and 1M statics. The new agreement is aimed at expanding co-operation based on the two companies’ long-term chip production plans. Winbond is considering volume production of 64Ms at its Taiwanese plant by the end of 1998.
