Electronics, electrical equipment and information technology firm Toshiba has introduced a new series of 3.5-inch HDDs, which bring multi-terabyte capacities to the consumer space.
The new series of HDDs will come in 12 variants: DT01ACA300, DT01ACA200, DT01ACA150, DT01ACA300 V, DT01ACA200 V, DT01ACA150 V, DT01ABA300, DT01ABA200, DT01ABA150, DT01ABA300 V, DT01ABA200 V, DT01ABA150 V.
Toshiba will add the 3.5-inch HDDs to its 250GB to 1TB consumer-use 3.5-inch HDDs, expanding its product coverage from 250GB to 3TB.
DT01ACA300, DT01ACA200 and DT01ACA150 offer a rotational speed of 7,200 rpm, appropriate for high performance desktop PCs.
The 3TB hard drives, DT01ACA 300, DT01ACA 300 V, DT01ABA 300, DT01ABA 300 V, are designed to meet the demand for storage of multiple HD video sources.
These drives offers SATA I/F capable of a 6Gb/s transfer rate, enabling smooth playback on desktop PCs, HD video recorders.
In addition, the drives include a low acoustics seek technology, "Silent seek mode" that performs data seek quietly and reduces noise by 1dB and 2dB compared to normal mode for products with three and two disks, respectively.
Toshiba’s 3TB drives reduces power consumption in rotation speed reduction mode, which can be added as an option. In this mode, rotation speeds in idle mode are automatically reduced.
The new 3TB drives are compatible with the European Union’s RoHS directive on the elimination of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
DT01ACA300V, DT01ACA200V and DT01ACA150V are optimiSed for applications such as digital video recorders that must record and playback video data without any delay. They are equipped with a streaming function to handle data transfer within a specified time.
