Jacques Tordjman, charismatic chief of Electronic Data Systems Corp’s French subsidiary EDS-GFI, informed the press by letter this week that he is leaving the company: the split came as a surprise to observers, particularly since the French subsidiary has recorded an outstanding financial performance under Tordjman’s tutelage – 1992 revenues of $1,370m represented a quarter of the parent’s total European revenues; it was not clear whether Tordjman left of his own volition or whether he was ousted by an EDS management that is said to want to move more quickly in reorganising EDS-GFI into industry-specific sectors; Robert McCashin, president of EDS-Southern Europe, will take temporary charge of EDS-GFI and should soon nominate a replacement of international stature, the company said, which seems to imply that Tordjman did not fit that bill.
