Representatives from the computer, telecommunications and microelectronics sectors are somewhat thin on the ground in the New Honours List, so British Telecommunications Plc did well to receive two mentions: Daniel McKeeman, who used to the External Logistics and Motor Transport Manager in Northern Ireland receives an OBE and Ernest Smith, Disabled Customer Liaison Manager gets an MBE. Robert Beattie, manager of IBM UK’s Scotland Community Investment Programme, is also among those honoured few with an MBE. Joseph McCaughey, Division Manager, Radar Satellites for Matra Marconi Space UK’s Directorate of Science and Earth Observation is likewise created an MBE as is Edward Forshaw, Principal Consultant for computer services company CF Europe Ltd; and Phillip Cronshaw, executive engineer, Systems Computing for the Military Aircraft Division of British Aerospace Defence Ltd. Finally an Imperial Service Order goes to to Derrick Hall at the UK government’s advisory Central Computer & Telecommunications Agency.
