Want to keep in touch with colleagues, friends and family? These videoconferencing apps make is really easy.

With an increasing number of people now spending more time working ‘on the go’ and teams often scattered around the globe, videoconferencing has become an invaluable way of communicating with colleagues. All you need is a computer with webcam, or even a tablet or smartphone. Oh, and one more thing, a decent videoconferencing solution. Here are five of the best.

Yugma

Yugma free web conferencing allows anyone, anywhere to instantly share their desktop and ideas online with others. Your Yugma Free web conferencing account allows you to communicate wqith up to 10 people at a time with 30 minute limitations. It is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. The number of participants can be extended to 500, with some advanced features, if you pay for the premium product.

Vbuzzer

Vbuzzer offers free video conferencing on invitation, which can be done through its website, which also allows sending video mail. It aims to allowing users to stay connected with family and friends, conveniently, reliably and affordably. Additionally, VBuzzer serves the needs of many small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as a communicating and collaborative platform. Typical applications include enterprise messaging, enterprise telephony, enterprise faxing and online meetings.

ooVoo

ooVoo is a free video chat and instant messaging app for desktop, mobile, tablets and Facebook . It can potentially let you chat with up to 12 people. Free features include video calls, web video chat, video messaging, instant messaging and file sharing. Paid for features include video conferencing, phone calls, desktop sharing, video call recording, file sharing (large files up to 25MB).

Eyejot

Eyejot is marketed as the easiest way to create and send video mail to friends, family members and business colleagues. It can be used from any web browser running under Windows, OS X or Linux, as well as directly from mobile devices such as the iPhone or iPod Touch. An Android version is coming soon.

Skype

Skype is the most popular and best-known voice and chat applications but it still only offer provides one-to-one communication. Third party plugins are available to download, though, that can extend the number of video chat participants.
