Top 10 Office gadgets

Be the envy of the office with these handy gadgets for your desk.

By Claire Vanner

Some office gadgets are just gimmicky, but some can be pretty useful. From USB devices to keep your drinks cold or hot and ergonomic equipment to make you more comfortable, there are plenty of great gadgets to fill your desk with. They also make great Christmas and birthday presents for colleagues.

1. Business card filing cabinet

Most of us are inundated with business cards and it’s hard to keep track of them. This mini filing cabinet is an efficient way to alphabetically store business cards and even has a digital clock.

2. Silent Mouse

It’s easy to get annoyed with hearing the constant clicking of your own mouse and others around you. This mouse is as quiet as, well, a mouse, with a ‘clickless’ button to not disturb your co-workers.

3. Ergonomic keyboard

Most people have some sort of ergonomic chair allowing them to adjust their back support, so why not do the same for you hands? Type in comfort with an ergonomic keyboard, and a wireless model removes clutter from you desk.

There is nothing more refreshing in the office than a nice cold can of pop. And what better way to keep your can cool and at arms reach than having your own personal fridge on you desk.

5. USB cup warmer

It’s happened to all of us: go to get a hot cup of tea or coffee and the phone rings as soon as you sit back down at your desk and a string of urgent emails come in. Before you know it, your drink is stone cold. Not with a cup warmer on your desk.

6. Cup holder

There is nothing more infuriating than spilling your drink over your desk, seeing the ink swim out of your important documents, papers soaking the liquid up like a sponge and that moment of dread as you see your drink inch towards any electricals on the desk. A cup holder clipped to the side of your desk puts your drinks out of the way and avoids spillages.

7. USB desk fan

Keeping cool is not always easy in a stuffy office, but a desk fan can be handy when you start to feel hot under the collar.

8. Floppy disc USB stick

Miss the humble floppy disc? This USB is cunningly disguised as a floppy disc. Retro and useful. And if you don’t have anything to put on the stick, you could always use it as a coaster.

9. Quirky contort Flexible USB port

Don’t have enough USB ports to plug in all these amazing gadgets? Problem solved! It even acts as a cable tidy.

10. Portable shredder

Information security is growing more and more important, with many documents needing shredding to protect company and personal information. Save walking back and forth to the shredder by using a portable shredder straight over the bin.
