TOKYO ELECTRON TO BUILD CONVEX MINISUPERS IN JAPAN

Tokyo Electron Co is to manufacture under licence in Japan the minisupercomputers designed by Convex Computer Corp, Richardson, Texas. The firm will combine the 20 MFLOPS C1-J CPUs with its own peripherals, and the move will reduce the cost of the machines by 50% compared with that of fully imported ones.
