IBM Corp and its Tivoli Systems Inc subsidiary, acquired to boost IBM’s systems management offerings (CI No 2,888) have announced the release of a tool, based on the TME10 Tivoli Management Environment, which they claim will manage hundreds of IBM DB2 servers and databases from a single desktop. According to the companies, the DB2 Enterprise Control Center, or DB2 ECC integrated with TME10, will enable MVS mainframe-based DB2 databases to be managed within the same environment as other, Unix – or Windows NT-based corporate applications. DB2 ECC is currently in beta test and will be on general release by the middle of the year, direct from IBM. The companies gave no details on pricing.
