Deutsche Telekom AG and Tivoli Systems Inc have reached a long-term agreement, whereby the software developer’s products will manage the telco’s 135,000 desktop computers, with Telekom’s IT services arm becoming an authorized Tivoli provider. The deal, on which the two sides declined to put a value, involves Tivoli supplying Telekom with a process-oriented systems management environment based on its Enterprise product. It will need to handle not only PCs, but also mission-critical Unix and NT application servers and IBM mainframes, supporting 45.8 million phone lines. As part of the agreement, the telco’s services subsidiary, Deutsche Telekom Computer Services Management GmbH (DeTeCSM) will have 120 of its employees certified by Tivoli as consultants, putting the company among the software developer’s leading European providers of consulting services.
