Timesys announces LinuxLink support for Texas Instruments’ DaVinci platform

The Factory build engine to design and build customised Linux platform from source code

By CBR Staff Writer

Timesys, a provider of LinuxLink, a software development framework for embedded Linux applications, has announced support for TI’s DaVinci DM6446 and DM355 processors.

According to Timesys, with support for DaVinci reference board device drivers including Ethernet, Serial, LCD display, Audio, USB and more, LinuxLink customers are expected to leverage DaVinci’s features and achieve a fast Linux product design and implementation cycle.

DaVinci users are expected to benefit from the LinuxLink framework which features Factory, the build system that claims to provide both the wizard for creating an initial Linux starting image and a build engine that enables customers to design and build customised Linux platform from source code. The Factory wizard claims to allow customers to choose from the latest GNU-based optimised toolchains enabled with uClibc and glibc libraries.

LinuxLink framework supports software engineering teams in embedded product development process, including custom platform assembly, application development and final system integration.

Charlie Ashton, vice president of business development at Timesys, said: The DaVinci DM6446 and DM355 processors are widely used for embedded products. We are excited to enable support for these platforms with our award-winning build system that accelerates the development of high-quality Linux products.
