TIME WARNER AND US WEST SPLIT ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED

By CBR Staff Writer

Time Warner Inc and US West Inc are thought to be poised to announce the break up of their entertainment and cable partnership. The companies have been in disagreement as to the terms of the ‘divorce’ for some time and US West told analysts earlier in the year that negations concerning a restructuring agreement were a long way off, and described Time Warner’s bargaining skills as ‘aggressive’ (CI No 3,100). Sources close to Time Warner say there is still a chance of a deal with US West, but say it would have to be at the right price, in light of Time Warner’s rising shares.
