Forever fumbling for your security card to get you into secure areas at work? Well in time, your watch – forever on your wrist – could make things much easier. Inventor Joe Rice has devised a system based on the fact that the layout of blood vessels, tendons and muscles are unique for each person. According to New Scientist, these subcutaneous structures can easily be scanned using infrared LEDs on the underside of a watch. Rice, from Mansfield in the UK reckons that the watch acts as a biometric identification device that could act as a key for secure area.
