Tibco unveils new workplace communication tool tibbr

Combines real-time technology with subject-based approach

By CBR Staff Writer

Tibco Software has launched a new communication tool tibbr, which it claims to take a new approach to social computing by allowing users to follow granular subjects and machines as well.

Tibco said that a tibbr subject can represent a user, an application or a process relevant to a particular business user in an organisation. It filters out all static and unwanted information clutter and affords business and consumer users the ability to wipe out duplicate posts and re-posts, and eliminate reply all email strings. tibbr allows information to be delivered in the form, frequency and manner of user’s preference.

According to Tibco, tibbr integrates directly with any enterprise system and is built using Tibco Silver, a application delivery platform for cloud computing. The new tool embodies same real-time publish-and-subscribe capabilities and offers security/encryption to support the demands of a workplace environment.

The company said tibbr services will be available through a standards based API that will enable users to embed the enterprise social capabilities of the tool into systems or applications, as well as map applications to subjects.
