In its third quarter to August 29, the net loss was $560,000, down from a loss of $45.39m on revenue 4.5% higher at $66.1m. However, despite adding 59 new customers in the quarter to take its total customer base to 2,100, license sales were flat at $34.6m. CEO Vivek Ranadive drew comfort from the fact that its license revenues were better than its competitors. Tibco’s company’s modest growth was made possible by a 10% increase in service and maintenance revenue to $31.5m.
Tibco forecasts that fourth quarter revenue will be in the range of $64m to $70m, down from the $71m achieved a year earlier, although it forecasts that earnings per share, excluding charges, will be in the range of $0.02 to $0.03.
