In the collaboration, the patented Widevine Cypher Virtual SmartCard will secure content processed by TI’s DaVinci technology. Widevine Cypher is a downloadable conditional access and digital rights management solution that protects linear broadcast and video on demand content that prevents piracy on set-top boxes, personal video recorders, home media gateways, and other consumer electronic devices within the home.
This relationship will provide our customers the ability to confidently design their products on DaVinci technology-based processors, knowing that video operators can more flexibly and affordably deliver secure content on retail available devices or that the content streamed to those devices is secured by technology that has enabled IP video deployments all around the world, said Charlie Gonsalves, TI business development manager for digital video – steaming media.
