THQ Wireless publishes for i-Mode with Konami

THQ Wireless, the mobile gaming and content subsidiary of publisher THQ, has announced a co-publishing deal with Konami which will see several of its leading games, along with a selection of pictures and ringtones, being made available to users of I-Mode mobile data services offered by Japanese telco NTT DoCoMo.

The mobile content is available over the KONAMI NET i-Mode game site, and initially five THQ Wireless games are featured – WWE Mobile Madness, MLBPA Homerun Contest T, Soccer, Bowling and Rotoball T. Twelve MLBPA pictures are also available, along with, er, a version of America the Beautiful in ring tone form – bound to be a hit with Japanese mobile phone users.

The company plans to release new games through the site each month, with fifteen releases scheduled by May 2003. I strongly believe that this new exciting partnership between THQ Wireless and Konami Mobile & Online, Inc. will provide great value to our customers, enthused Konami Mobile and Online president Amemiya-san, commenting on the deal.

i-Mode, which is the data system developed by NTT DoCoMo for content provision to mobile phones, is hugely popular in Japan and is currently being rolled out in several European countries – in a move seen as a response to impatience over the continual delays to roll-outs of working 3G mobile services.
