THORN EMI HAS FASTEXT TELEVISION

By CBR Staff Writer

The long-term answer to the slow access time and limited capacity of the BBC Ceefax and IBA Oracle teletext broadcast information services is to include a large memory in the TV set so that pages need to be transmitted much less frequently – but in the meantime, Thorn EMI has come up with a Fastext television that has storage for four pages, so that, with the help of a code agreed by the broadcasters, when you access a page on a particular topic, the next four pages are automatically captured and stored; the new facility adds UKP20 to the price of the television receiver.
