THOMSON AND SGS DENY TALKS WILL LEAD TO MERGER

Following their agreement for joint development of high-capacity EPROM circuits, Thomson of France and SGS of Italy are in talks to take their collaborations further, but they deny a report in the Financial Times that the discussions could lead to a full merger of their semiconductor interests.
