The Thomas-Conrad Europe unit of Austin, Texas-based Thomas-Conrad Corp, has launched a 100VG-AnyLAN Starter Kit. It features four 10/100Mbps AT adaptors, two EISA adaptor boards and a 24-port hub. It will provide users with the ability to upgrade six personal computers to 100Mbps with existing cabling, while offering scope for a further 18 personal computers to be added to the hub. Available now, the kit lists for ú2,200. The company also has a 16/4 Token Ring PCI adaptor, the TC4048 which it claims combines a 32-bit, bus-master PCI interface with switchless construction, and offers driver support for all popular network operating systems. It also provides a DB9 connector for Type 1 shield twisted pair and a RJ45 connector for Category 3, 4 or 5 unshiel ded twisted cabling. Out now, it lists for ú220. Thomas-Conrad has also unveiled its first network management software, called Sectra Management System for Windows, which monitors and manages any Simple Network Management Protocol-compliant device. It can also monitor any IP or Internet Packet Exchange-compatible device that does not have the protocol agents, using PING, a network management procedure used to determine the status of a TCP/IP Internet device.
