Finally laying to rest the speculation over whether IBM would bring out a successor to the 4381 or would stretch the 9370 up and the 3090 down to fill the gap (CI No 1,048) Bob Schwartz, manager of mid-range product introductions at White Plains yesterday confirmed that there would be a 4391 out soon. There’s no way we can stretch two design points to cover the 370 power range he said at the IBM ’88 show in London yest erday. Challenged afterwards whe ther this meant a 4391, I guess I have to say yes, Schwartz replied.
