THE US NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH ACCUSED OF DRAWING UP TENDERS

By CBR Staff Writer

Another US government department, this time the National Institute of Health, which oversees the Federal medical research agencies, is being accused of drawing up its tenders so as to favour IBM to the extent that other companies don’t think it worth bidding on the contracts: the six complainants are Amdahl Corp, NCR Comten Inc, Storage Technology Corp, Memorex Telex Corp, Pacificorp Capital Inc and Vion Corp; they say they are not accusing IBM of any wrongdoing, or government employees of personal gain, simply that there seems to be too cosy a relationship in drawing up tenders.
