THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL MINIS FROM MODULAR COMPUTER

By CBR Staff Writer

We’re still a little confused by the architecture of those new Tri-Dimensional minicomputers from Modular Computer Systems Inc (CI Nos 1,038, 1048), because they appear to be built around a core instruction set processor called the 98010 from VLSI Technology Inc, to also to include a Motorola 88000 RISC and sundry 68030s as well; at all events, the prices are now clear $38,000 for the Model 9230, $43,000 for the 9235 with SCSI interface, and $114,000 for the 9250; beta units went out in October and the Model 9250 is available this month; more models are promised for 1989.
