The Law On Computer Program and Database Legal Protection was finally passed and officially published on October 20, 1992 with the full text appearing in Rossiyskaia Gazeta. Since then, it has been in force in Russia. It was originally passed by the Russian Parliament on May 14, but for constitutional reasons it was rejected by President Yeltsin. It was again discussed by the Russian Parliament on September 23, and was passed with a few minor changes. This time it was signed by the President. The same scenario took place with other laws relating to the protection of intellectual property in Russia. The Patent Law was passed on October 14, and the Trademark Law was passed on October 17.
