The International Herald Tribune caught up on Friday with that deeply bearish piece from the New York Times about the rise of the microprocessor and decline of the mainframe that we alluded to in CI No 1,149 – significant not for what it said but for the fact that it was splashed right there on the front of the Times, reaching a much wider influential audience than any trade or financial publication – but in the unkindest cut of all, the Trib chopped a few paragraphs from the end quoting IBM people on how the company would be fighting back this year to embellish the story with the following picture and caption:
